Psychiatry Training
Program overview
We are a group of academic psychiatrists and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners dedicated to the distribution of evidence-based psychiatry knowledge and clinical skills throughout the medical and psychiatric community.
We provide comprehensive psychiatry training and on demand or scheduled clinical support to licensed nurse practitioners and physician assistants in your medical organization. We also provide training and consultation for physicians in the primary care setting.
Depending on the experience and prior training of the clinician, our didactic training can range from 20 hours of preparation to over 100 hours. The majority of the clinicians we train come from family nurse practitioner or primary care physician assistant backgrounds, but we also provide advanced training for NP/PAs who already have experience or even psychiatry board certification. If you do not currently have a nurse practitioners or physician assistants on your staff, we can recruit and train a licensed clinician in your community for you to hire. Our course is composed of two sections: pre-clinical training and clinical training.

On the job clinical support
The key to the success of the KetchMed psychiatric training program has been our intensive live clinical support. After finishing our core didactic knowledge and video clinical training, the first month a trained nurse practitioner or physician assistant is working as a psychiatric consultant or seeing psychiatric patients, they will not be alone. We include in our training package complete, case by case support via web, text and live communication to help those initial weeks of the transition from book training to busy clinical practice. Typically this support lasts through the first month of clinical psychiatry work. After the first month, almost all of our graduates have been comfortable and fully functional in their new role. We also have options for additional ongoing clinical support, if needed.
Psychiatry consultation
Our intensive clinical support model is also available for nurse practitioners, physician assistants, or primary care physicians who have not participated in our training course.
